Buying an apartment in Son bought advice

Post by callumlj » September 8th, 2021, 7:11 pm

Hi we have been to Son bou now around 10 times and we are thinking about buying an apartment on the St Jamie complex / Son bou gardens. Does any one on here own one if so any advice would be great.

I have read many horror stories about buying in Spain is it as hard as they say? Also is 70% the max mortgage you can get on a property being from the Uk.

Thank you and nice to meet you all.

If you need a mortgage then before you look at anything get that sorted out and an agreement in principle for the loan - things will have changed considerably since Brexit.

Obviously find a reliable solicitor to assist you and someone independet of the solicitor who is fluent in Spanish/Catalan if your language skills are not up to par. If the property is on an existing development then it should be fine but he should check all relevant permissions etc.

Remember that taxes and fees will add around 10% to your purchase price and mortgages sometimes will not cover this so it will be in additon to any deposit.
