Cala en porter

Post by balaclava » May 28th, 2019, 11:58 am

Some of this forum's members may be aware that there is a Facebook group called expats menorca. I'd like to share with this forum a thread that appeared yesterday about the problem of dog mess being seen on the pavements, during the thread a member of the group made the most pompous and rude comment that cala en porter was a and I quote, " a sh#thole". What I find unbelievable is that this person is the cook at a nearby bar and restaurant in son vitamina! Fantastic public relations for his bosses who have clients who live and stay in cala en porter! I certainly won't be visiting again.

I also saw that post :???: I've not been to the island for a number of years now but it was always pristine and clean whenever we were there.
I'll stop moaning, when you give me a pay rise this :arms: big

Must admit we were over last week and there was certainly more than usual along the pavements, more so on the top road overlooking the beach and down main road out.
Went for a walk from son bou to sant tomas and never seen any at all.

I know this also used to be a particular problem in Es Castell. However, a couple of years ago the government introduced a fine for anyone caught allowing their dog to foul the pavements, like we have in the UK. These days I don't think it's as much of a problem as it was in Es Castell, but you'll always get folk disobeying the law if they think they won't get caught  I don't understand why the fine hasn't been implemented across the whole island though. Unless it has, but people don't take any notice because there's no-one about to enforce it.

However, I think the point of the original post is what a condescending fool the chef at the Son Vitamina restaurant is (not too difficult to work out who it is, is it? ). Talk about 'shooting yourself in the foot'!

Is the chef the owner or related to the owner??

Every Menorquin who I have spoken to on my travels thinks Cala'n Porter is an Ingles ghetto, maybe it's a cultural difference thing......
