Cost of Eating Out in Arenal

Post by micheleb » July 13th, 2009, 6:45 pm

Hi

Thanks for all your helpful posts. Now that some people have returned can anyone tell me what the average prices of eating out is like and what have been the best places this year. We are a family of 5 and expect the prices to have gone up since last year, just wondered what the avergage meals out were costing.

Is the Japi bar just the same or has it changed hands? It was one of our favourites last time, a little while ago there was mention of it not opening.

Cheers

Michele

The Japi bar is open and the pizzas are still around 9 euros
per person. The Flamingo in Coves Noves is run by all the old Japi
staff and the food there is still good and the same price 8/9 euros

The Romani at the top of the steps is still doing the menu del dia
for 14 euros including bread and wine so it is good value and very busy

For a nice meal the Sa Gavinia is open - main meals 12 euros upwards.

You can still get a good meal at great prices at Smithys but remember
to book a table - approx 8 euros per person

If you want a special meal then head for the Acuario in Macaret
- pricey but worth every euro
(Dont forget to go by taxi - it is cheaper than thetrain)

The Restaurante Alcalde now has a cheaper menu alongside the a la Carte menu and menu of the day.

We also arrive same day on a flight from Birmingham. Last west to resort a couple of years ago and the Flamingo Restaurant was a favourite of ours at the time. Sounds like it has changed hands since but will return to see what its like.
