Re: Tourist licence

That’s really annoying and I can see why it’s deeply upsetting. All of Menorca has tightened up on planning and the rules I’ve discovered (so far!) are: - Rooms have to be 3m away from the boundary - Property cannot be more than 25% of plot - 40% of the plot has to be “green” I really do think you’v...

Re: Some Advice Please RE: Driving to Menorca with our lovely dog

Please let me know how you get on. We are thinking of staying in Menorca for a few weeks and would prefer to take our large GSD with us....although he will take 1/2 of the boot space up so we will also need a roof box. My dog looks very similar to the one seen walking around Binibeca with his swimmi...

Re: Binibeca

Well that’s some experience, so I’ll take that!

Out of interest, where is the old Pedro place?

I see that Bini Inn is becoming Bini Bamboo and they’ve filled in the pool!

Re: La Caixa service charges

They have different account options, but they will always charge you something unless you are having your salary paid into the account. I’m with Caxia and they charge me €9 a month. Considering retail banks make no money on interest, I can understand why they charge, but it was quite a shock to me a...

Re: Day to day how to?

When we bought our property, it already had a tourist license. The day after completion, our solicitor arranged for the tourist license to transfer. They do expire and need renewing (ours had expired in 2016), but wasn’t a problem and is transferred into our name. One thing that surprised me (althou...

Re: Binibeca

Thanks for the replies everyone! That’s great! Even with the January holiday sales, there’s a lot of properties that have availability for holiday rent. That said, that’s not particularly uncommon. My original question was less about rental income and more about buying into a location that will decl...

Re: Wood burner

Thanks that’s great.

I’ll have a look at that, and also the new ecodesign wood burner standard.

Re: Wood burner

What do you do about the wood? Do you store it in the house or buy it when you use it?

Obviously I’m thinking about ensuring the wood is bone dry and with the house unoccupied everything tends to get a little damp.

Re: Capital Gains Tax

I am starting to wonder whether it worth the hassle of renting the property. On the CGT question, I hadn’t considered this. I’ve bought my property and will be spending 50% of the value renovating it significantly. It seems quite painful to pay all this and then have to pay a further 20% of the CGT,...
