Re: Gonna be pouring down for my holiday :-( Any suggestions?

Well what a day Tuesday was, afternoon a thundery washout but what a show in the evening! Feel sorry for the locals having a lot of mopping up to do, but better that then what they got on the mainland. Our pub, and quite high up, got flooded but only by an inch or so, and was quickly mopped up. Thur...

Just 48 hrs ago it was going to be torrential rain and thunder for all three days, now it is saying there is the possibility of rain. Wait until Monday before deciding 0 chances are it will be fi...

Re: Gonna be pouring down for my holiday :-( Any suggestions?

Hope so, it's always volatile in September and when you see the forecast a few days in advance and it looks really bad, then it can only get better! Don't mind the odd thunderstorm, especially in the evening, but not three days worth!!

Cheap shop for basics near hotel Artiem Capri, Mao??

As soon as I arrive I will be looking for basics like a towel, suncream, maybe a parasol, flipflops; the usual touristy stuff. As the heading says, I'll be at the Capri which is near the Mao bus station. Looking to avoid the (more expensive!) touristy shops in town (or near the beach) so just wonder...

Re: My first visit!

Yes, there's plenty left to explore! Thinking about a walking/hiking spring holiday maybe 2019; so nearer the time I'll be asking for good walking maps O/S-style.

Re: Are there any extra delays at Mahon airport?

When I went through yesterday on departure (a) they looked at my boarding pass but didn't scan (??) (b) security was quick but thorough and (c) the only passport inspection was as I boarded the aircraft.

On arrival it took about 5 minutes to go through passport/immigration.
