Re: First Visit Planning

You didn't mention what time of year you are planning on visiting - that would determine here best to base yourself in terms ov very little opens anywhere much before the beginning of May and closes up at the end of October. Another thing to consider is that the island is extremely small and, even i...

Thanks Kieronf

Where might I find the courses authorities offer?
Just pop into your local town hall and someone there will know. Ours, in Alaior, run from October to May and offer different levels from beginner to more advanced, plus it's a good way to meet up with folk.

Re: Learning the lingo

Most local authorities run classes (day or evening) that run for a few months for around €30 a 'term'. There are established language schools at either end of the island offering group or one-to-one lessons plus a number of tutors offering a range of learning activities, walking groups andthe like. ...

Re: Son Parc

These are always subjective posts - everyone has their own opinion on these things but the one thing that you can be certain of is that the disruption will go on for considerably longer than expected. Of course, things will be tidied up for the summer season, but if you live there you will have to c...

Re: Buying a villa and getting Tourist License

As an aside, the whole tourist licence thing is due to be relaxed in terms of single family properties in rural areas being considered. That said, if the property you are buying already has a licence it is transferrable with the property sale - but a word of caution here. A friend of mine recently p...

Re: Urgent residency update

It does seem arbitrary and irrational given the uncertainty over the actual Brexit timeframe, however, they were adamant - as only Spanish bureaucracy can be, that no more residency applications will be accepted after 29th march. I can only presume that this decision is based on the fact that, in of...

Urgent residency update

I've just been this morning to complete my residency application. I used Belen Segui to double-check everything and she kindly had her wonderful secretary accompany us to make sure all went well. Before we left for the police station Belen mentioned that the police had notified her that they would n...

Re: Satellite dish and heated pools

I would have thought that 8mbps is rather slow for the island, especially for streaming. Filmon and it's like allow you to access most of the freely-available UK channels, but the same could be said for any basic smart TV where you would also be able to access Netflix which you can download as an ap...

Re: Alayor

From a practical viewpoint Alaior has everything you would need - schools, shops, cafes, supermarket(s), medical centre, sports centre and so on. It is a compact town, some would say densely populated given it's size, but there are plenty of expats that live there and enjoy the place. The beaches at...
